A Comparison of Tramadol and Pethidine Analgesia on the Duration of Labour

Background: A standard obstetric analgesic should have a good effect without reducing the intensity of uterine contraction. The present study aimed to evaluate and compare efficacy intramuscular tramadol pethidine on labor pain duration. Material Methods: total 170 multigravida women in active were randomly assigned two identical groups, so that 85 pregnant received (50mg/2ml) (100mg/2ml) intramuscularly. Results: duration group was shorter than group. In 1st stage labor, 64.7% participants drug for 120±30 minutes, while 67.1% 180±30 minutes. 2nd stage, 44.7% 15±5 51.8% 25±5 Visual Analog Scale (VAS) used before, 1 3 hours after administration. obtained lower VAS mean score compared those at hour administration (4 vs 6; P≤.001). Moreover, there significant higher level vomiting dizziness among (29.4% 1.2%; Conclusion: Tramadol appears lead cause maternal side-effects, although its not as much pethidine.
